Updated National Login Experience
On September 26, 2023, the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) upgraded to a new, more secure and user-friendly login experience for all its products and services.
As a member of CREA, you’ll be impacted by this change, and will need to set up a new login account you’ll use to access CREA products and services. You’ll also be required to use your new account to access links from your board/association’s dashboards or MLS® System.
To ensure a smooth transition, and for continued access to CREA services such as CREA WEBForms®, you’re encouraged to set up your new account.
What you need to know
-
Why did CREA make this change?
Upgrading our national login experience to a single sign-on authentication offers many benefits, including:
- improved password management;
- updated users’ security and privacy with multi-factor authentication (MFA), delivered in partnership with an industry leader in customer identity management and authentication;
- simplified users’ experience with one set of secure credentials to remember while accessing multiple CREA applications; and
- integration with third-party applications behind the new login experience.
-
How are you affected?
You’ll need to create a new account, which you’ll use to access CREA’s products and services.
-
Creating your new account
Visit member.REALTOR.ca. You will be prompted to login. Click “sign up” and follow the instructions
What you need:
- A unique email address for your new login.
Don’t use a shared email address (such as your real estate team’s email or office admin email).
Any email address you want will work (Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.), but you’ll need to have access to that email for authentication.
- A secure password
Passwords follow standard password complexity rules (such as a combination of special characters, upper- and lower- case letters and length).
You’ll be able to manage your password yourself.
- A mobile phone number for multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Use a phone number you’ll have access to now and after September 26—that’s when you’ll start using your new authentication.
CREA’s Member Experience Centre is available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST by calling 1-888-237-7945 or emailing support@crea.ca.

7. What email should I use to create an account and for authentication?
Use any email you can easily access. It’s best to use your preferred personal email address (such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook, etc.), because business emails can change more often than personal emails.
It cannot be a shared or “group” email (for example, an email that is shared by a team or office).
It doesn’t need to match the email address used for REALTOR.ca leads. This email will only be used for authentication and won't impact where your leads get sent.
-
8. What phone number should I use?
Any mobile phone number that you’ll have access to each time you’re asked to authenticate. Only phone numbers from Canada or the United States are supported.
-
9. What if I don’t have or don’t want to give my cell phone number? Are there any other options for authentication?
A mobile phone number is required to create an account.
Once your account is created, we also support email as a secondary method for authentication, however, mobile phone validation is strongly recommended. Support for biometrics such as Face ID or fingerprint will also be added as an option in the future.
-
10. What is multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that asks the user to provide more than one verification to gain access to an application or an account, instead of relying just on login credentials. MFA decreases the likelihood of identity theft and cyber-attacks by increasing the number of user verification elements.
-
11. Why do you need multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) provides increased protection against cyber attacks and helps prevent identity theft. CREA has an obligation to protect members and their client data—that’s why we’re enhancing login security for our members.
-
12. Can I set up a new account without multi-factor authentication (MFA)?
No, multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a login requirement to enhance the security of our services.
-
13. What if my biometric multi-factor authentication (MFA) isn’t working?
If you're experiencing trouble using biometric MFA (e.g., facial recognition) select "Try Another Method". This will allow you to complete MFA through an alternative method, such as email or SMS message. If you continue to experience issues, contact CREA’s Member Experience Centre at support@crea.ca or 1-888-237-7945.
-
14. I'm a member of multiple boards; do I need to create multiple accounts?
You’ll need to complete the sign-up process for each board you are a member of, however, you can link all your accounts by using the same email address during your set up process. If you have problems or questions, contact CREA’s Member Experience Centre at 1-888-237-7945 or support@crea.ca, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. EST.
-
15. Can I use the same email I use for my board MLS® System login?
14. Can I use the same email I use for my board MLS® System login?
-
16. What password will be accepted?
Secure passwords require:
- Minimum of eight characters;
- upper- and lower-case letters;
- a number; and
- a special character.
You will be guided on selecting a secure password as you go through account setup experience.
-
17. What happens if I don’t create an account before September 26?
Starting September 26, you’ll be asked to log-in using your new account. If you don’t have one yet, you’ll need to create one to access CREA’s products and services, including CREA WEBForms® and some links in your board/associations MLS® Systems and dashboards.
-
18. My team admin used to be able to log in with my credentials. Will this change?
Your admin will still be able to login as you, but they will need proper permissions to access CREA products.
To give someone permissions (or check if they have them) login to member.REALTOR.ca, and click, "My Profile".
Note: Some MLS® Systems support alternation and might have worked seamlessly with CREA products. With REALTOR.ca SSO and its updated product security, MLS® System alternation is only be possible if alternates have been set up in a member’s profile by that member or submitted to CREA by their board or association.
How does REALTOR® assign someone to be their alternate?
Members can add and revoke permissions as required through member.REALTOR.ca.
- REALTORS® must log in to https://member.realtor.ca/
- Select: My Tools > My Profile
- In the "Alternates" section, select: “Add Alternate".
- Enter the name and search for the person you want to set up as an alternate.
- Select the correct profile from the search results.
- Click "Confirm".
NOTE: If the same assistant is working for multiple brokerages, it's important to select the account associated with the correct brokerage/board.
-
19. Why do I get asked to login again when accessing the link to CREA WEBForms® (or other CREA products) from my board/association dashboard? I used to be able to access these products without additional logins.
To maintain security and optimize user experience, CREA is upgrading its user authentication platform. Before boards/associations can integrate with this new login experience, users will be asked to login to CREA products, even if they are already accessing protected board applications such as the MLS System®. This may be a temporary step that gets eliminated as boards/association systems utilize this new technology for user authentication. At that point, only one login will be required.
