Opportunities Available for REALTORS® to Further their Career

You, or someone you know, may be a good fit.

The REALTOR® association community is full of exceptional individuals who make a difference in their respective communities in more ways than one. If you’re interested in taking on more responsibility and/or becoming a voice for REALTORS® on the national stage, here are just a few opportunities for you to become more involved.

Join CREA’s Board of Directors

Applications open annually for various positions on CREA’s Board of Directors, a group of talented and experienced REALTORS® who champion CREA’s vision, ensure responsible and accountable stewardship of our association and members’ resources, and lead CREA forward.

Board members work alongside 15 other highly committed and qualified volunteer directors and, with the support of our CEO, oversee CREA’s strategic direction, establish priorities for the future, monitor our performance and risk, and ensure sustainable operations.

Information about open positions and how to apply is available on CREA’s Member Portal

Join a CREA volunteer committee

Committee members act as resources to our Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on important topics, like federal affairs and technology. Committee members also help showcase REALTOR® value, enhance professionalism and move the industry forward by driving continued innovation and progress.

CREA has five board committees:

  • Audit and Risk Committee
  • Governance and Bylaws Committee
  • Federal Affairs Committee
  • Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Committee
  • Finance Committee

And four operational committees:

  • Association Executives Committee
  • Technology Committee
  • Marketing and Communications Committee
  • REALTOR® Code Committee

Information about these volunteers committees is available on CREA.ca. The next application period will open in late 2025.

Become a Political Action Committee (PAC) representative

In politics, just as in real estate, impressions last long after a deal closes. We strive to maintain open, honest, and respectful dialogue with the federal government. In an election year, it’s never been more important to get involved.

The main mechanism for this is our PAC Network, which was created in 1985 as a way for REALTORS® to actively engage with their elected representatives. PACs include the President and Executive Officer of all real estate boards and associations, one or more “PAC Reps” appointed by each, and current members of the CREA Board of Directors. PAC Reps work to relay important regional concerns to CREA, while keeping their local Members of Parliament (MPs) aware of major national issues affecting the real estate industry, and regularly briefing their board or association on federal developments.

If you’re interested in becoming a PAC Representative, contact your local board or association.

Nominate your outstanding peers for one of CREA’s prestigious awards

The Canadian REALTORS Care® Award, Proudly Presented by REALTOR.ca

REALTORS® do amazing work in communities across Canada. You can help a REALTOR® you know get the recognition they deserve on a national stage by nominating them for the Canadian REALTORS Care® Award, Proudly Presented by REALTOR.ca. Over the past decade, the national award program has recognized 10 REALTORS® across five provinces for their relentless commitment to bettering the lives of fellow community members. As part of the award, the recipient also receives a donation to their charity of choice. In 2025, donation amount increased to $10,000. This year’s recipient will be announced during CREA’s Annual General Meeting on April 8, 2025.

The nomination period for this annual award opens each fall.

If you want to do more in your community, check to see if your board/association is hosting a REALTORS Care® Day this year and how you can help.

AEN Award of Excellence

Established in 1989, to honour the legacy of Frank Johns, the AEN Award of Excellence is presented to a deserving association executive (AE) who exemplifies professionalism, commitment, and leadership within the REALTOR® association community. All senior board or association staff are eligible for the award provided they meet the award criteria.

While nominations open annually, the AEN Award subcommittee determines whether a recipient will be awarded based on the merit of the award and nominations received. If selected, award recipients are announced during CREA’s AGM each spring.

The next nomination period will open in late 2025 and remain open until early 2026.
