CREA Launches New Canadian Certified Green Representative (CCGR) Certification
The CCGR certification is available on the CREA Learning Hub.

As sustainability continues to be at the forefront of many discussions, a deeper understanding of energy-efficient homes and renewable energy has never been more important.
Thankfully there’s a new way REALTORS® can learn how to become environmental leaders and demonstrate that commitment to their clients and communities.
The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) has launched the Canadian Certified Green Representative (CCGR) certification. Broken down into four e-learning modules and a final online assessment, the CCGR certification covers a variety of topics including:
- Module 1: Climate Change and Environmental Hazards: This first module covers climate change fundamentals, focusing on Canada and its building and construction industry. It also explores the role REALTORS® can play in adapting and mitigating the impact of climate change within the real estate sector.
- Module 2: High-performance Homes: Learn how REALTORS® can create value for homeowners with maintenance, renovation, and retrofit strategies that improve performance and energy efficiency of Canadian homes. Energy efficiency can be impacted through progressive maintenance and improvement, with tactical renovation prior to placing a home on the market, and in new construction.
- Module 3: Renewable Energy and Electrifying Homes: Learn about the benefits of renewable energy, such as income generation, and lowering costs for homeowners and reducing their reliance on grid systems. You'll review various heating and cooling systems and water management systems that provide strong return on investment to support REALTORS® and their clients.
- Module 4: Environmental Practices: This final module reviews environmental practices REALTORS® can apply to lower their personal and professional carbon emissions.
Once completed, members will be able to demonstrate to clients their commitment to the environment and to business practices that keep sustainability top of mind.
This CCGR certification is open to all REALTORS®, whether they’ve been entrenched in sustainable practices for decades and want to know more about modern advances, or they’re completely ‘green’ to the content and ready to try something new.
