A year in review: Advocacy wins for REALTORS® and Canadians
Be it personal or business, January is a time for reflection. A lot can happen over 12 months and we know staying up-to-date on everything going on at CREA can be difficult. For CREA’s Federal Affairs team, 2017 was PAC-ed full of events, meetings, consultations and work advocating on behalf of REALTORS® and home buyers and sellers. While it’s hard to mention everything, here are highlights from the past 12 months.

- As part of the Standing Committee on Finance’s (FINA) study on the Canadian real estate market and homeownership, we made a submission and presentation on the importance of keeping homeownership within reach for all Canadians.
- With the help of our advocacy efforts, Finance Minister Bill Morneau made adjustments to the proposed slate of taxation changes for private corporations, benefiting REALTORS® and small business owners across Canada.

- In 2017, CREA partnered with Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN) to create a publication to help guide home owners through the ins and outs of home energy efficiency. A Homeowner’s Guide to Energy Efficiency offers tips to make your home more energy efficient as well as a handy guide on home energy ratings.
- With 205 meetings between PAC Reps and Members of Parliament (MPs) scheduled over two days, PAC Days 2017 was one of the most successful yet. Last October, REALTORS® travelled from across Canada to meet with their local MPs and advocate for positive changes for home owners.
